MSKI Holds Thesis Camp to Accelerate Student Graduation Without Reducing Research Quality

South Tangerang, FAH Online News – The Master’s Program in Islamic History and Culture (MSKI), Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, organized a Thesis Camp on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Doctoral Program Room of Islamic Civilization History, 3rd Floor, Faculty of Adab and Humanities. This activity was held as an effort to accelerate students’ study completion through intensive guidance in the thesis writing process.

The event featured speakers from professors and lecturers of the Master’s Program in Islamic History and Culture, namely Prof. Dr. Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim, M.A., Prof. Amirul Hadi, M.A., Dr. Halid, M.Ag., Dr. Imas Emalia, M.Hum., and Dr. Awalia Rahma, M.A., and was attended by MSKI students.

In her opening remarks, the Secretary of the MSKI Program, Dr. Mauidlotun Nisa, M.Hum., stated that the Thesis Camp was designed to help students complete their studies on time without compromising the academic quality of their research and written work.

“Through this activity, we hope that students can be more focused in preparing their theses so that they can graduate on time while maintaining high research quality,” she said.

In the first session, Dr. Imas Emalia, M.Hum. presented material on research stages, starting from topic selection, research design preparation, to writing research results. During her presentation, participants were also invited to actively discuss their respective thesis research plans to gain initial feedback on the topics being developed.

In the second session, Dr. Halid, M.Ag. together with Prof. Dr. Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim, M.A. delivered material on formulating research questions and conducting literature reviews in thesis research. They emphasized the importance of critical thinking skills in developing research questions and in reading and analyzing academic literature in depth.

According to the speakers, a strong literature review is a crucial foundation for researchers to understand the position of their research within academic debates and to determine the scientific contribution of their work.

In the third session, Prof. Amirul Hadi, M.A. and Dr. Awalia Rahma, M.A. created a more interactive discussion atmosphere. After introducing the use of theory and literature in research, participants were asked to present the progress of their theses, which were then discussed collectively to receive direct feedback from the speakers.

The activity lasted until 5:00 PM WIB and concluded after all participants received feedback on their research progress. Through this Thesis Camp, the MSKI Program hopes that students will be better prepared to complete their theses in a more structured, critical, and timely manner.
