Abdul Ghani Theater, FAH News Online - Halaqah Ilmuhi li-Muhibbi Lughah al-Arabiyah or who is familiarly known as HIMLA is again holding very useful activities among students, this activity took the form of a public speaking seminar which was held on Thursday 24 April 2025 which took place in the Abdul Ghani Theater room, 5th floor of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities at 13.30 – 16.00 hosted by Master of Ceremony Salman al-Farisi and Ruhama Ruj'a and closed prayers by Adnan Haris (HIMLA Member 2024), this seminar is an activity that has only been held at the management in 2024 – 2025 based on the initiative of the management and encouragement from HIMLA supervisor, Mrs. Dr. Cahya Buana, MA.

This seminar was warmly welcomed not only from HIMLA members but from various departments and faculties who took part in this public speaking seminar, where this seminar was generally open and attended by 100 seminar participants from various departments and faculties at UIN Jakarta. This seminar raised the theme “Dare to Speak, Be Artful with Literature” this friend not only raised the importance of skills in public speaking but also touched on how public speaking can be made into an art in literature, this is because HIMLA is an Autonomous Institution which is under the auspices of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities which operates in the field of literature, especially in the field of Arabic literature.

“I would like to thank HIMLA's friends who have held this activity as well as the supervisor, Mrs. Cahya, and also the head of the Arabic Language and Literature study program, Mr. Mina, who has guided HIMLA's younger siblings and continues to support them in every activity carried out”, said Mr. Deputy Dean of the student affairs section of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, Prof. Usep Abdul Matin in his speech. Hopefully holding this seminar can increase self-confidence in speaking in front of the general public. Husna Nurul Baeti as the chief executive of this activity expressed her many thanks to the participants who attended this seminar, especially to the presenters, lecturers, deans and all the invitees who were willing to attend this public speaking seminar.

Mr. Ircham Surahman, SE., M. Pd., MCHC., CHt., CPM., MT-BNSP as a speaker at this seminar accompanied by moderator Rifki al-Dani (member of HIMLA 2024) gave the material very casually but still weighty. This seminar will be followed by an exclusive advanced class to focus more on public speaking only for the 25 lucky people who will take this advanced class for two days for free from JADE Academy. Not only seminars, this activity was also filled with reading Arabic poetry (Syiir) by sister Ghina and also singing Arabic (Ghina’ Araby) by sister Nashira.

It is interesting that this seminar activity was carried out in its committee which not only involved friends of the 2023 HIMLA management but also invited HIMLA 2024 members to contribute and learn in carrying out this seminar activity and they were very enthusiastic during their time as a committee member as said by Ittaqi Tafuzi Sahara when interviewed after the event evaluation meeting “The event was very exciting, structured and I learned a lot from this committee so I know what I have to do in the event division”. Apart from that, Sultan Abdurrafi as a participant also said that the “event was good, the speakers were fun and inspiring”, he said after being interviewed after the event.

Hopefully the implementation of this activity can increase the self-confidence of friends in public speaking, especially in art in the world of literature in accordance with the themes raised “Dare to Speak, Be Artful with Literature”.
