FAH UIN Jakarta Partners with Drury University Adjunct Professor to Boost Internationalization

South Tangerang, FAH Online News — The Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a virtual meeting on Monday (April 20, 2026) with Dr. Sami Siddiq, an academic and Assistant Professor at Drury University, United States.

The virtual meeting was attended by FAH leadership, including Dean Dr. Ade Abdul Hak; Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Cooperation Prof. Usep Abdul Matin; Vice Dean for Academic Affairs Dr. Ida Farida; Vice Dean for General Administration Dr. Siti Amsariah; and Head of LP2M UIN Jakarta Prof. Amelia Fauzia.

This activity aimed to explore and formulate potential international academic collaborations aligned with the vision of the faculty and the university in promoting internationalization.

In his remarks, the Dean emphasized the faculty’s commitment to strengthening internationalization through research collaboration, improving academic writing quality, developing double degree programs, and adapting to emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance global academic reputation.

The Dean also expressed appreciation for the presence of Dr. Sami Siddiq as an Adjunct Professor in the FAH UIN Jakarta academic forum. His presence is seen as a strategic opportunity to strengthen the faculty’s internationalization, expand global academic networks, and open opportunities for collaboration in guest lectures, joint research, collaborative publications, academic mentoring, and curriculum development.

Furthermore, the Dean highlighted that FAH UIN Jakarta possesses a distinctive academic identity that integrates knowledge with Islamic values, culture, language, history, literature, and information. Therefore, international collaboration is essential for FAH not only to excel locally but also to contribute to global academic discourse.

The meeting began with opening remarks from Prof. Usep Abdul Matin, who expressed appreciation for Dr. Sami Siddiq’s presence and willingness to collaborate. He emphasized that FAH continues to enhance its internationalization programs, as reflected in its achievement as the Best Information Faculty within UIN Jakarta in 2025. He also highlighted the university leadership’s commitment to improving institutional rankings, particularly in Islamic Studies, which has shown strong national performance.

Furthermore, Dr. Ida Farida proposed several concrete initiatives, including appointing Dr. Sami Siddiq as a Visiting Research Fellow for a three-year period and involving him in the International Student Mobility Program. These programs are expected to enrich students’ academic experiences through public lectures, research collaboration, and joint scientific publications.

In response, Dr. Sami Siddiq welcomed the proposals and expressed his readiness to share knowledge and experience with the academic community of FAH UIN Jakarta.

On the same occasion, Prof. Amelia Fauzia emphasized the importance of research collaboration in literature and history as a strategic step in fostering international cooperation. She noted that such collaboration could focus on historical aspects within Arabic literary works. According to her, the outcomes of this collaboration should take the form of scientific articles published in reputable international journals or those indexed by Scopus.

She further highlighted the importance of strengthening the faculty’s global position through the development of double degree programs and the improvement of academic quality in line with world-class university standards. The presence of Dr. Sami Siddiq is seen as a significant opportunity for FAH lecturers to enhance their research and writing capacity through direct mentorship.

As a follow-up, both parties agreed to draft a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) outlining the details of cooperation, including the appointment of a Visiting Research Fellow and the implementation of the International Student Mobility Program. In addition, plans for organizing international webinars and future Visiting Professor programs were also discussed.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to promptly realize the collaboration as part of efforts to strengthen internationalization and enhance the academic quality of FAH UIN Jakarta.
