FAH UIN Jakarta Holds Workshop: Encourage Dare to Enter Reputable Journals

ADIA Convention Center, FAH News Online — Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is again holding a Training Workshop to Accompany Journal Article Writing at the ADIA Convetion Center (Ex Syahida Inn) hotel Jalan Kertamukti, Pisangan Timur, South Tangerang 6-7 November 2025.

This activity presented Arnis Silvia, Ph.D. from UIN Jakarta lecturers as resource persons on the first day, with Dr. Nurul Aini, M.Pd. as moderator. Meanwhile, on the second day, activities continued by presenting Dr. Muhammad Irfan, S.Si., M.Pd. from Yogyakarta State University as resource person, and Lutfhiana Dwi Rakhmawati, MA as moderator.

This workshop, which lasted for two days, was held as an effort to encourage improvements in the quality of lecturers' scientific publications, as well as strengthening the research culture and academic collaboration within the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, UIN Jakarta.

The workshop, which was attended by lecturers, was opened directly by the Dean of FAH Dr. Ade Abdul Hak, S.Ag., M.Hum, CIQnR in his speech, the Dean emphasized the importance of scientific publications as one of the main performance indicators (IKU) of faculties and encouraged collaboration between lecturers and students in producing scientific works worthy of publication.

“Publication is not only an obligation, but also a form of our academic contribution. Lecturers can collaborate with students in writing articles, and even use them as an outlet for international courses or conferences,” said the Dean.

The main resource person in this activity, Arnis Silvia, Ph.D., presented material entitled “Publication or Elimination: Strategies for Penetrating the Journal of Sinta and Scopus.” In his presentation, he emphasized various strategies for scientific articles to be accepted in reputable journals, both national and international. Apart from that, he also encouraged lecturers to have big dreams by targeting publications in the Scopus journal, but still being realistic by first publishing their work in the Sinta indexed journal.

“Dream high for Scopus. Even if it hasn't been achieved, at least we are already in the Sinta journal environment,” said Arnis.

In his presentation, Arnis also emphasized the importance of academic motivation, citing McClelland's theories about the need for achievement (need for achievement), the need for affiliation, and the need for power, as well as John Atkinson's framework which emphasized the importance of discomfort as a driver of progress.

Resource persons shared with participants the importance of strategies so that articles are not rejected in minimal revisions, including:

Theme ; Make sure the novelty or novelty of the research lies in the analysis knife used. Second ; Adapt the method to the research objectives. Third ; Pay attention to the suitability of the journal title, scope and template. Third ; Avoid writing that is too descriptive without in-depth analysis. Fourth ; Discuss research results with previous research to strengthen positioning.

The resource person also emphasized the importance of academic honesty in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

“Now many journals are asking for author declarations regarding the extent of using AI in writing. Using AI is fine, but it must be transparent,” he explained.

Arnis further added that lecturers need to actively collaborate with researchers from BRIN, private research institutions and foreign scholars to strengthen the quality of publications and expand academic networks.

At its second session, the agenda focused on coaching activities. The resource person provided a more in-depth explanation and opened a more personal question and answer session with the participants regarding the publication of the reputable journal Scopus. The atmosphere of dialogue between participants and resource persons was relaxed but remained focused on the substance of the workshop.

It is hoped that this workshop activity will be a concrete step in strengthening research culture, improving the academic reputation of FAH lecturers, and expanding the scientific contribution of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta at national and international levels.
