South Tangerang, FAH Online News — The English Literature Study Program of the Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, held the 2026 English Literature Academic and Student Culture Orientation Program (PBAK) on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Prof. Bustami Abdul Ghani Theater, 5th Floor, FAH. Carrying the theme “Every Emotion Has a Story, Every Step Has a Meaning” and the slogan “Feel It, Own It, Grow With It!”, the event marked an important first step for new students to become acquainted with the academic environment, student life, and their journey as members of the English Literature Study Program.

The series of activities began with committee preparations and briefings, attendance checks for new students, and a bridging session leading to the faculty landmark and opening ceremony. After the new students were directed to the theater, the 2026 English Literature PBAK was officially opened with a recitation of the Qur’an and a prayer, followed by the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya, and the UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Hymn.

Moving into the main agenda, the new students were introduced to the faculty environment and the English Literature Study Program. The program also featured the presentation of alumni data and a traditional dance performance by ELTD (English Literature Traditional Dance), one of the student activity organizations (LSO) within the English Literature community. The Chairperson of the English Literature Student Association (HMPS) for 2026–2027, Anya Cahya Kirani, and the OCP of English Literature PBAK 2026, Muhammad Daffa Alkindi, also delivered remarks and welcomed the new students as members of the larger English Literature family.

Vice Dean III for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation of FAH, Prof. Usep Abdul Matin, S.Ag., M.A., M.A., Ph.D., also welcomed the new students. In addition, lecturers from the English Literature Study Program, namely Inayatul Chusna, M.Hum., Dr. Agus Suriadi, M.Hum., and Zakky, introduced the faculty and study program environment and provided an overview of the academic life that students would experience throughout their studies in English Literature.

One of the main agendas of the 2026 English Literature PBAK was a Sharing Session entitled “Unlocking the Console: Navigating Your Journey in English Literature,” featuring Fauzi Fakhri, S.S., M.Hum., an alumnus of the English Literature Study Program at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta who is now pursuing an academic career as a lecturer at Harvard University. The session provided new students with insights into academic journeys as well as various experiences that can contribute to their personal growth throughout their university years.

The sharing session was structured into three stages: Starting the Journey, Growing Through Experiences, and Looking Ahead. In the Starting the Journey stage, students were encouraged to understand the process of adapting to the university environment, academic system, and new responsibilities as university students. Next, Growing Through Experiences highlighted the importance of academic and non-academic experiences, including student organizations, committees, competitions, and self-development activities. Meanwhile, Looking Ahead encouraged students to begin considering the relationship between their experiences during their studies and their readiness to face life after graduation.

Through this session, new students were also encouraged to understand that being an English Literature student is not limited to activities inside the classroom. The various experiences gained throughout their studies can become part of a process of discovering their interests, developing skills, setting priorities, and preparing for their future.

Following the sharing session, the program continued with various performances by groups of new students. A total of ten groups presented their works in turn as part of a process of developing creativity and confidence in performing before an audience. The atmosphere became even more lively with a drama performance by the newly established English Literature drama community and a musical performance by MEL (Music of English Letters), one of the LSOs within the English Literature Study Program.

The 2026 English Literature PBAK concluded with the announcement of the winners and the closing ceremony. The entire series of activities served as an initial process for new students to become familiar with the academic environment while building relationships with fellow students and the academic community of the English Literature Study Program.

Through the 2026 English Literature PBAK, new students are expected to embrace every experience throughout their university journey with awareness and a clear sense of purpose. In line with the slogan “Feel It, Own It, Grow With It!”, every experience and every step they take is expected to become part of their growth, enabling them to develop academically, personally, and through their involvement in student life.
