South Tangerang, FAH News Online – English Literature Study Program Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is again holding the Student Election (Pemira) with an acclamation system. This Pemira is part of the 2025 FAH Pemira series, in this process a single student candidate is determined on October 30 2025 which is then officially registered with the FAH Pemira.

The deliberation process for determining candidates will be held on October 18 2025 at the Pola Idaman RPTRA, South Jakarta. This activity was attended by active student representatives from the English Literature Study Program who came from the Student Association

In its implementation, the Pemira English Literature Study Program is held through an internal deliberation mechanism that considers the track record and student involvement in various development programs, such as the academic activities committee and the English Literature Department (ELD) Camp. The process of determining this candidate is carried out without involving external organizations, as a form of independence and consistency of tradition which has been maintained by the English Literature Study Program academic community.

Secretary of the English Literature Study Program, Dr. Agus Suriadi, M.Hum., explained that this acclamation system has long been an inherent culture in the department. According to him, differences in the Pemira system between departments are normal as long as they uphold the values of democracy, deliberation and conduciveness in the campus environment.

“This culture has been passed down from generation to generation in English Literature. Even though it is different from other departments, we hope that all parties will continue to respect the applicable system and maintain a conducive campus atmosphere. "The management of selected students is also expected to be able to design programs that are impactful and useful, as well as open up spaces for collaboration with SMEs and other student organizations," he said.

Meanwhile, the elected Student President of the English Literature Study Program, Anya Cahya Kirani, assessed that the acclamation system reflects the collective character of English Literature students who are formed naturally. He said that English Literature students tend to develop their own capacity through strengthening academics, creativity and developing interests rather than solely formal organizational involvement.

“This culture is already attached to English Literature students. However, I hope that fellow students will still have the intention to build English Literature and contribute significantly to the study program,” he said.

The implementation of Pemira with this acclamation system reflects the unique organizational culture in the English Literature environment of FAH UIN Jakarta, while emphasizing that the diversity of democratic practices at the department level can run in harmony within the framework of academic values and faculty togetherness.
