A New Step by FAH UIN Jakarta: Preparing an International-Standard Double Degree MSKI Program

South Tangerang, FAH Online News – The Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) held a preparatory meeting for the opening of the Double Degree Master’s Program in Islamic Cultural History (MSKI) on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at the Dean’s Meeting Room, 2nd Floor.

The meeting was attended by the Vice Rector for Cooperation and Institutional Affairs of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Din Wahid, M.A., Ph.D; Jejen Jaenudin, S.Ag., M.Ed., Ph.D (Quality Assurance Institute); Muhammad Zuhdi, M.Ed., Ph.D (Professor at UIN Jakarta); and Arif Zamhari, M.Ag., Ph.D (Head of PLKI), along with the FAH deanery and senior lecturers of the MSKI Study Program.

In his remarks, the Dean of FAH, Ade Abdul Hak, emphasized the importance of agreement at the university level as the foundation for implementing the program at the faculty level. He also underlined that preparation, including financing, must be carried out seriously and systematically, referring to international standards such as ACQUIN. According to him, a double degree program cannot be implemented partially and requires thorough planning.

Meanwhile, Vice Rector Din Wahid stated that the double degree program must become a university priority. It is expected to serve as an institutional legacy and a strategy to enhance competitiveness at both national and international levels. Furthermore, the program provides opportunities to expand global networks in the field of Islamic Studies.

During the discussion, it was conveyed that FAH has two master’s programs with excellent accreditation that are potential to be developed under the double degree scheme. One of the main focuses is strengthening financial cooperation with LPDP and the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Support from international partners such as Oslo has also been mentioned, with expectations of broader funding collaboration.

The MSKI program is considered to have met one of the key requirements, namely English proficiency, as many lecturers are graduates from overseas institutions. This serves as an important asset in implementing an internationally based double degree program.

In the discussion session, several strategic inputs were also delivered. One of them emphasized that program development should not only be oriented toward partner universities but also toward distinctive academic fields, such as Islamic History. In addition, the concept of the double degree program needs to be formulated comprehensively, including cooperation mechanisms with foreign universities and adjustments to each institution’s requirements.

It was also conveyed that participants in the double degree program must meet international standards, including academic readiness within one year prior to departure. Students are also required to fulfill all graduation requirements from both participating institutions.

The discussion took place in a serious and enthusiastic atmosphere, with various constructive inputs from participants to realize the program.

This meeting marks an initial step in refining the concept and implementation of the double degree program at FAH, with the hope that it can soon be realized as a flagship program with global competitiveness.
